Anthony Walker Foundation festival in Liverpool

entry picture

Poets including Clare Shaw, pictured, are lined up on Saturday when Writing On The Wall in association with the Anthony Walker Foundation and Love Music Not Racism presents an afternoon of spoken word, poetry and uplifting verse on Saturday 9 July during the foundation's all-day festival at the University of Liverpool. The Anthony Walker Foundation is a charity that was established by Anthony’s family following his tragic death in a racially-motivated attack in July 2005. The aims of the foundation are to promote equality and diversity through education, sport and arts events and to support law enforcement agencies and local communities to reduce hate crime and build safe, cohesive communities. Saturday’s performers include Shaw and Lily Mosini; their work is powerfully personal and passionately political. Shaw has been described as  'probably the best, most electrifying, new young reader on the circuit' (Carol Ann Duffy). Also lined up is Curtis Watt, aka C-Zero, a Liverpool-born performance poet, author, actor, presenter, musician and workshop leader. A published poet, he has worked internationally on both stage and screen. Other acts include, R2G, James Shaw, Akiel Chinelo, Chris Jam, Maria Gornell,  The Cipher, Chatterbox, Blue Saint and Lina.  Entry is free at Blackwells Bookshops, University of Liverpool, Alsop Building, Brownlow Hill, Liverpool, L3 5TX. Time: 1pm-3.30pm. Map
