Addiction

It started with the famous five,

Though I had no time for Dick,

Or Julian or Timmy the dog.

Ann and Georgina made me tick

Recently it’s Lara Croft

and Uma Thurman too,

as Beatrix Kiddo in Kill Bill

Volume one and two.

It’s become an obsession

Female stars of film and fiction.

I consulted a psychiatrist

For the name of my affliction.

He said “I’m sorry, I’m afraid you have

A Heroine addiction”.

Thanks Jeff and Janet for your comments. It's always encouraging to find a twist works.

Janet, finding out you're as cool as Lara Croft - what a great day that must have been!

This is really neat. I like it.
Enid Blyton in the same poem as Lara Croft. Imagine that!

I used to love the famous five books.
There was a poster of Lara Croft in my old shop once. My niece pointed to it and said, "that's you aunty Janet." When i asked what she meant by that, she told me i'm the angel of darkness.
How good is that?
This is what poetry does for me. Evokes feelings and memories, and i love it! xx

Thanks Darren. I liked your poems too.

This is one of my performance ones in a set of comedy poems. I'm getting a nice reaction to them and trying to submerge the punchlines below the surface is the challenge!

Good luck with all your work too

Regards

Mark

Very good. Nice twist. This would work well in performance with several other similar pieces.
