Trev's USA Tour 2011
This is it Appalachia here I come.
22.04.11 – 79) Day break and I’m on my way
To a great American byway
Waterfalls said to be like fountains
Now I’m driving along the Blue Ridge Mountains
Opened in 1935 a vision for beauty to come alive
To enable people to go asunder
To see first hand natures wonder
Looking down at what can be seen
Trees in the valleys all shades of green
Mountain tops above the mist to see
Like islands in a misty sea
Spring blossom on chestnut trees does grow
Pure white, known as summer snow
On other trees no sign looking stark
But in time they’ll make their mark
From the valley below
Moving upwards it will grow
To the trees that now look dead
A verdant green carpet will spread
Mist lifted now as I run
Northwards enjoying the warm morning sun
Stopping to listen to the birds’ natural voice
Photographs I’m spoiled for choice
Take my time do it at my leisure
Enjoy the Parkways natural treasure
On this road made by man
For hiker, cyclist, car, trailer and camper van
I thought for driving there’s nothing finer
As I headed to Virginia from North Carolina
Seeing the morning dew at the roadside glint
In the sun like diamonds or musket flint
Different coloured blossoms on the trees say
Spring is here summer’s on its way
Then the fall when it is due
Vibrant colours in autumn hue
Then things get ready again to grow
Silently under winters snow
As the seasons slowly turn
And once again nature will bring
The wonders of a Blue Ridge Mountain spring
