THE UNCERTAIN NARCISSIST

The liquid thought

of girl on girl on girl

excites!

delights!

the straightest lad

in spite

of his misgivings

for similar forbidden

acts

he might attract

from other males.

For after rugger

a damp towel may plummet

revealing

appealing

tensed muscle

melting

the sternest resolve

with actions bold

he may

discover another way

to play the game.

And if caught

boy on boy on lubricious boy

no blame!

no shame!

as he will now know

that same

sex leanings

like golden earrings

flatter when they match

and he can catch

his beauty reflected

in the grin of a bad boy’s eyes.

One of the reasons this poem is still up here, is that I have had trouble placing it. Any suggestions?

I love this one Gareth. It is good to see bi-sexuality/homosexuality explored so subtly. As others have remarked, the poem has good flow and imagery.

I love the title!
This flows along nicely, and like Cynthia, I find those last lines reflect well what you are saying.

That is very kind of you Cynthia!
I was kinda inspired by picking up a collection by Gavin Ewart, a brilliant rhymster much admired by top poets in his day, and a comment by a friend about clone culture amongst gay men. But hey, we're all a little bit "bi" so I'm told : )

This is really good, Gareth, well-crafted and thought-provoking. The opening two lines are a compelling 'hook' and then the poem goes from strength to strength with choice diction and fine imagery eg. 'like golden earrings flatter when they match' 'his beauty reflected in the grin of a bad boy's eyes'.
