How To Make Yourself Crackers

Find a dish

Add sauce

Slither and slide in sauce

for about 5 years

stirring only

when absolutely necessary

Wonder whether you need children

Worry that you haven't any children

Add 4 children

Mix

Wonder if 4 children are enough

Add 2 more children

Mix

Flavour generously

with cats, dogs, rats, hamsters,

mice, gerbils, budgerigars, canaries,

lovebirds, rabbits, fish

and Giant African Land Snails

Paint the house pink

"Little pink houses for you and me" - John Mellencamp
Definitely not Claret and Blue!
I didn't see any chickens there. Want some?
Also liked your Clown poem.

'subject matter and humour' are quite enough to make an outstanding poem. This one sparkles. My dad had five girls; so, he always insisted on a male dog. 70% of the houses in Bermuda are painted pink, bright unabashed glorious pink.

Thanks, Francine and Jules.I think the number of comments is an indicator of the subject matter and the humour, rather than quality. But thanks anyhow.

You have loads of comments. So the poem is definitely good.

Thanks all. We've 5 daughters and 1 son. My son and I wanted the house painted claret and blue - Aston Villa colours. As always, Girl Power won the day.Dunno what shade of pink it is, blushing I expect. Definitely not posh.

Thoroughly enjoyed this, Ray. The only house round here that's painted pink belongs to our ex-MP, who lives round the corner (in the posh houses).
