Weight Management

I can see chocolate, I can see brie,

cupboards full of possibility.

Crumpets dripping with liquid butter,

hot wok oil and pine nuts splutter,

crispy fat on bacon rashers,

cheese and potatos squelched by masher.

Cushions of creamy mozarella,

chorizo sausage and prawn paella.

My tongue swims in warm saliva

at the mention of braised pigs liver,

my stomach gurgles in anticipation,

pleads with me to cease starvation.

But the scales say don't you dare,

NHS, BMI, don't go there!

All those months you munched as you pleased,

is it any wonder you're now obese?

So put on your trainers, get on your bike,

find a map and take a long hike.

Munch as much as it takes to sustain you,

stop confusing eating with entertainment.

One day soon you'll lose a dress size

and be amazed by new adrenaline highs,

as in time you climb the hill without panting

and know you've reached the top of the mountain.

Inspiring second stanza! But for some reason my eyes keep drifting back to the first one. (That reminds me, there's some trifle that needs eating up in the fridge). Skilful, entertaining, very funny.
