I Dream of Egypt

I Dream of Egypt
by, Melissa R. Mendelson

I dream of Egypt.
A forgotten world
burns like a hot sun
scorned with lies and betrayal,
and the sands of time
will never forget.
This world may be gone,
covered by age,
but it remains
whispering into now,
stories forever told,
birth of legacy.
I dream of Egypt.
Lives beyond my own
tell me that I was there,
but how do I remember?
Do I swim
into the sands of time,
allowing myself to being drawn back
to moments leading into death?
A cold knife of betrayal
shivers of nightmares,
and the dream fades,
fades to black.
