gulled

entry picture

Strolling down old Back Road West

I thought “I know what I’d like best!”

I usually stick to my Ryvita

Today I fancy something sweeter

A smile upon my face did beam

“I’ll treat myself to an ice cream!”

Strolling down the sunny Quay

Nothing left to worry me

I slurped my cornet yum yum yum

Until to Smeaton’s Pier I come

Where lined up smiling was a row

of Japanese tourists, sayin’ “Hello!”

I smiled and waved my nice ice cream

Then with a squark and with a scream

A greedy seagull pounced on me -

No more my cornet did I see!

Before I knew what’s goin’ on

I found my ice cream was all gone

Into that creature’s greedy beak

I felt a fool, a real freak!

And camera shutters went “click click!”

I really felt like a complete dick!

I really was a silly pup

The gull and tourists set me up!!

I’ll learn from this sad interlude

I bet I’m staring on youtube

Next time a cone appeals to you

Go hide and eat it in the public loo!

(This video is NOT me being attacked by seagulls!! But it's a nice seagull anyway!)

Hi Stef - I was going to call it Sucker! In fact I read it today in St Ives and I did call it Sucker! cos Gulled would have given the ending away. But if you've ever been to St Ives you'd know the ending anyway! Those pesky birdies!! xx

And Ta old Crackling - I have heard tell of them there hedgehogs! They also do an ice cream called a FOXY!!! I must admit I did have one of those, just for research purposes you understand! xx

Maybe Ice Lollies ? They have really nice "Hedgehog" Ice Creams at Chapel Porth (I think) - and no greedy seagulls.
