Two dogs were fighting on the street
Barking and biting over a piece of meat
That a third dog, passing, gobbled and ran
As dogs do because they can
As a child onthe pavement walking by
Stood before them and started to cry
Saying she feared such dogs biting, with their teeth bared
Was told they are just squabbling and not to be scared.

And you dear reader, I know well
Ask: what do dogs fighting have to do with Iraq, pray tell?

The Sunni Muslim and Shiite
Fight over faith and who is right
As our two dogs on the street
Where the assetts of Iraq are the meat
The third dog is the American, a clever man
Who takes what he takes because he can
And the child is the world horrified by what he does see
A war horrid unfolding on their TV
They ask their leaders, in verse above their mothers
How and why the world lets Iraqis kill one another
In a war as savage as civil wars are
How dis liberators let it go this far?

And their leaders tell lies, claiming they cared
Its not a civil war, just disturbances, dont be scared!
