Were summers warmer back then?
School holidays will shortly be over
Our remaining weeks transformed into days.
We experienced fun, so well remembered.
Memory of a youthful summer haze
We rode carefree, those paths and byways
Without thought of discomfort or malaise
Ambled through a certain chilled conviction
Warmed only by that youthful summer haze
We swam, shivering, in shimmering pools.
Surfed without confidence in beach-high waves
Lay restfully on the warmed golden sand
Bronzing those tans in youthful summer haze
It is with sadness that we reminisce.
Unbridled energy, vigorous ways
Aged, we glimpse from a far distant shore
And ponder the loss of our youthful haze
