August 2025 Collage Poem: A Cut Above

entry picture

Over supermarket lager, pie-eyed

in badly-stained underwear

The sunflower is an explorer throwing

caution to the wind

chasing the raging fiery ball

THE TIMETABLE GLISTENS WITH CONDENSATION

Playing nude bingo at

the Police Station with Nigel

Where do all these words come from?

While watching the sunflowers grow

I got on the train with a ghost

deciding which self to bring.

Night owls scatter dawn’s

            first pigeons as a wayward

gas bill billows across The Plaza.

Stand up in badly-stained

underwear came a shout

Social levels will never decide

the hope in our own words

A fey lady of gentle, insular uncertainty

wears shoes for people

who know where they’re going.

"...shoes for people

What a fashion statement!
