'Little Boy' 6/8/1945 (80 Years Ago)

entry picture

A City turned into a furnace ball of heat.

People’s skin was stripped off in the street.

Instantly, 75 thousand people were dead.

The August sky above slowly turned red.

Into the sky a mushroom cloud climbed.

Leaving its devastating destruction behind.

Birds were ignited while in mid flight.

Below the birds a City had been set alight

There was no escaping the rolling flame.

A burnt out landscape, this soon became.

A yellow blast flashed, bright like the sun.

Tibbets said “my God what have we done?”

Such unimaginable scenes, stolen from Hell.

That’s what happened after ‘Little Boy’ fell.

Once there was a City, but it stood no more.

Done in the hope that it would end the war.
