John Brown and Company

We drove one time above the docks of Glasgow

they were building a ship for a Queen,

I stared down not knowing,

It was iron and cranes and poverty and Empire.

My headmaster hated me because of my blood

and I stuttered like an outboard motor,

he was a sell-out lowlander

weak kneed and chinless...

All these years later I have no forgiveness,

me a Highlander with Anglo-blood.

I'd still swing my sword to that fucks head

and not miss a moments sleep.
