it started as a birthday treat

three of us separated by a month

albeit twenty-odd years apart,

a weekend to San Sebastien

great food and wines that we

humorously titled

‘Senors on Tour’,

 

this year, closer to home

a cottage amongst the peaks

in Derbyshire, near Mam Tor,

I only made base camp and

walked the lower broken road

backpacks and boots we’d become

‘Senors Outdoors’,

 

I’m in charge next year

for this father and sons annual

jaunt, a leisurely vineyard tour down

the Loire meeting old friends

who remember my boys as children,

‘Senors Alors’.
