Unrequited

 

She side-stepped my affections,

Unconvinced by the web,

Constructed from disassembled thought

And confusion’s thread.

 

I had sought to create a nest,

Cushioned with promises,

Fortified by unwavering service.

 

What materialised was unpalatable, leaving

Unsated need for escape and adventures

Beyond my sphere of comprehension.

 

To her mind, passion trumped comfort and

Excluding all others she would be fulfilled.
