Mytheme
When technology came to replace tradition,
Science destroyed all superstition.
Proof of evil beings is forgotten,
remembered as myths, and dismissed as fiction.
But I have a suspicion
That the truth is much darker,
that their true nature is harsher,
and they stay hidden and wait.
I fear we fell into their trap and took the bait.
They stole the light and dimmed our dreams.
In their absence, we have become cold and stiff.
Everyone skips to the end and has no use for mythemes,
Avoiding the leap of faith, they stay far from life’s cliff.
With no beasts to vanquish, it tore humanity apart.
They turned on each other, and the creatures watched on,
Seeing the brave tear out each other’s hearts,
leaving us alone was their biggest con.
