Fascination

‘FASCINATION’

By the Urban Poet

She fascinates me, challenges me

Every time I see her, or think of her

I’m fascinated

She only has to look at me or make a sound

and I’m dumbstruck, mumble a few futile words, and make my excuses

What I know about her is very little,

but fascinating all the same

Her look, tone of voice, elegant demeanour

Who wouldn’t be fascinated?

I don’t think she even realises that she has

Siren like qualities that draw you in, compel

you to observe, talk to, and talk about her

I know this all may seem odd but…

I do love my dog, she’s fascinating!

Rick,
There’s a delightful twist in this poem that shifts what begins as an almost reverential admiration into something unexpectedly endearing. You capture the way fascination can make us feel small, tongue-tied, and yet deeply moved—even by something we might not fully understand. The playful revelation at the end not only brings a smile but also redefines the depth of connection we can feel for something, or someone, who captivates us in such a simple, pure way.
Thanks for the charming surprise.
Chreerio,
Rolph
