SEEN, LOVED, FORGOTTEN

entry picture

Resembling beauty, I feel lost when unloved

A silent plea within each gaze.

Like beauty, I crave tender hands

Soft and free in their embrace.

Like beauty, I thirst for praise

A melody that fills the air

To pierce the dark, to stir the soul

To waken hearts both near and far.

Yet, like beauty, I long to fade

To slip beyond the hollow praise.

Beyond the love that burns then cools

A fleeting glow, a passing phase.

I long to be forgotten, gently lost

A memory cherished, then set free.

No shadow cast, no echo left

No tether binding you to me.

I long to fade like whispers on the breeze

A name once spoken, then erased.

No colors dim, no footprints mark

Just dreamless sleep in quiet grace.

Forgive this paradox, this plea

Because I long for love yet fear its weight.

Because I crave the light it brings

Yet dream of drifting into fate.

Thanks sharing this; I really enjoyed it. I particularly like your vocabulary, and I thought the half-rhymes were great. And it builds to a wonderful resolution in the last stanza!
