Of sorrowful songs there is no fear

A face as smooth as glass

that time has fallen from,

tracks of tears have passed

the weight of years moved on.

Hands purpura petalled

fold like angels wings,

hair as gentle snowflakes

a midnight clear might bring...

a robin on a window ledge

a flower full in bloom,

the sacred vow of loves long pledge,

a summer gone too soon.

And yet the song we hear is light

it lifts the leaden heart,

for dark with all its fearful night

can ne'er two lovers part.

Helene I'm sorry it's a very lazy way of writing verse one.

Hey guys, excuse my ignorance, but what is this "V1" you referenced in the comments? I googled it but was not enlightened.

Hi Graham,

you are spot on there, V1 is the root of this.

When I walked in to my fathers room that day his face was serene, all signs of age had slipped away as if he was young again. It was then I knew how close to the end he was.

The following hours were probably the calmest most peaceful moments I had experienced in a long time, as if the entire world reduced to the space within those four walls.

Thanks for your reading and comment.

V1 must have been the inspiration for this surely?

"..just about everything in life gets taken from us..."

except for that spark that makes us who we are. The rest is fiction.

How to guard that spark--that is the crux of it all...

This is particularly timely for me )

Thank you for sharing.

The scene you evoke is peaceful and sublime, familiar without having been directly experienced.

Truly beautiful.
