In a Blaze of Glory

In a Blaze of Glory

At eventide in the far western sky the sun begins its descent,

a slow gradual sinking of its perfect shape into the ocean below.

Nature waits in anticipation as it slowly embraces the horizon,

as both the sky and ocean are caught in its fading light.

Orange tints and and shades of yellow submerge into a darkened abyss,

signalling the end of another day, a ritual performed in a natural cycle.

The world basks in these final moments of daylight until that moment arrives,

when the last arc of warmth is extinguished beneath the waves.

A final but explicit second as we no longer can behold this awesome scene,

having left our sight the light lingers for a while before being vanquished.

A daily event which is never interrupted as it is guaranteed by the Divine.

I stand amongst a cluster of people to see this final event,

in silence and awe as creation commands our lingering thoughts..

Keith, pardon me for having to repeat these same words, that I have used on other poems recently, but this really is the best one that you have posted so far, Such wonderful imagery.

Thank you.

Bethany
