Back after break-in havoc ... Write Out Loud Woking at the Fiery Bird tonight

entry picture

Write Out Loud Woking’s open-mic poetry night at the Fiery Bird music and community arts venue in Woking will be going ahead on Thursday 25 April after all, after last month’s event - along with many others -  had to be cancelled because of a break-in and thefts at the venue that caused thousands of pounds worth of damage.

Copper piping and cabling from the roof was ripped out and stolen, leading to flooding. Music and PA equipment was also taken.

Fiery Bird was forced to launch a Crowdfunder appeal which they hope will help cover the losses. Fiery Bird’s Elaine McGinty said “One of the things we've been really heartened by is the people who've sent really lovely comments of support, people who've, despite times being hard, contributed to the Crowdfunder.”

Write Out Loud Woking at the Fiery Bird is on Thursday at the venue in Goldsworth Road, beginning at 7pm. More details
