Tapestry

Let us slip away today

quietly just slip away,

wend ourselves toward the sea

thread our dreams to what could be.

Unpick ourselves from patterned cloth,

blend inside a landscape, soft.

Not held or fixed as if to stay

but free that we might drift and sway.

Let us settle in the night

by waves reflecting fiery light,

to wake in wonder at the sound

of every day in which we're bound.

When things we are become unstitched

it's by the fray we are enriched.

That all things slip beyond our grasp

means not that all that's good is past.

Thankyou for the recent likes on this.

I'm still in the city...not by the sea, unfortunately.

Thank you for the generous and encouraging comments.

The sad truth is I am the worst at taking my own advice, our lives stitch us into patterns difficult to unweave ourselves from. Responsibility, uncertainty, economic fragility, just a few of the things that weigh heavily when attempting to reach for dreams.

Courage and abandon is the answer, this I know, yet still fear lingers.

David.

A sense of turning and twisting to some chosen redemption is a heartfelt and encouraging image and supported by a sense of the wonder of wend and wake and the lull of words like away, today are like soft petals on our spirit. Lovely poem David.

A lovely poem, David. The rhyming flows, the thoughts soothe and inspire and give hope.
