once I sucked at mama’s teet

now I got my setup
got my shit sandwich

and I see you got one too…

Daddy set me on his knee
so I’d learn to sit up straight

pointed out the Golden Eye
and said I’d learn to bow in time

I spent those days barefoot reasoning
in the tall grass and weeds

with the mountains in the clouds
of the big blue sky…

..those moments seemed as endless
as those spent at the table choking down peas

and those moments seem as endless
as these…

Those memories are some of the most vivid I can recall from early childhood )

It might seem irrelevant to mention, however, I try to impart a bit of knowledge to the young people with whom I work that the wizard at the end of the road is really just a miserable old man (or woman).

Meh, what can we do...

As they say, it's good enough for government work.

I hope you are well, too, David, and thanks for stopping by 🌷

Hi Landi,

The idea and memory of being a child attempting to understand the actions of our guardians can be upsetting when reflected upon. It can open up deeper wells of contemplation which seem to stretch out for endless periods of time.

That is the thought which your writing here brings to my mind.

I hope you are well.

Thoughtfully written mesmerising words.

David
