Donations are essential to keep Write Out Loud going

Hands of time

James sat at his desk, staring at the blank white sheet of paper laid out in front of him. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, trying to gather the courage to write what he had been wanting to say for years. He knew what Isabella's response would be, but he still had to try. He had to reach out to her, even if it was just through a letter.

They had been good friends, inseparable since the day they met. They both promised each other an unconditional love, one that would never fade away. But life had other plans for them and they were forced to say goodbye to each other. It was the hardest goodbye of their lives, but they both believed that their love would withstand the distance.

Years passed, and they lost touch. James heard bits and pieces about Isabella's life through mutual friends, but he never reached out. He was busy building his own life, too consumed by work to think about anything else. But a part of him always wondered about Isabella. He wondered if she still thought about him, if she still loved him.

Finally, after all these years, he decided to send her a letter. It was a shot in the dark, but he hoped that she would read it and understand the love he still had for her. He knew it was a long shot, but he couldn't let go of the hope that maybe, just maybe, she still felt the same way.

He poured his heart out in the letter, telling her how much he missed her, how he regretted not being there for her when she needed him. He apologized for not keeping his promise of an unconditional love, for not being there when she needed him the most. He hoped that she would forgive him and give their love another chance.

But as he sealed the letter and dropped it in the mailbox, he couldn't shake off the feelings of guilt. He had been so caught up in his own life that he had forgotten about Isabella. He never returned to see her, never reached out to her. He knew that he had hurt her deeply, and he could never make up for it.

A few days passed, and James anxiously waited for Isabella's response. He tried to keep himself busy, but his thoughts were consumed by her. Finally, the day came when a letter arrived with Isabella's name on it. His hands trembled as he opened it, and his heart sank as he read her words.

Isabella's response was exactly what he had expected. She told him about the hardships she faced after he left, how she struggled to move on without him. She told him about the hurt and pain he caused her, and how she could never forgive him for walking away.

James felt a wave of emotions wash over him. He felt relieved that he finally knew how Isabella felt, but at the same time, he couldn't help but feel guilty for causing her so much pain. He realized that the love they once shared was gone, burnt out by the years that had passed and the distance between them.

He knew that there was no going back now. The chapter of their love had ended, and he had to accept it. He couldn't blame Isabella for not wanting to give him another chance, not after the way he had hurt her. He could only hope that she would find happiness in her life, with or without him.

James learned a valuable lesson from this experience. He learned that love could not always withstand time and distance, and that sometimes, letting go was the best thing to do. He also learned that it is never too late to apologize and make amends, even if it may not change the outcome.

Isabella would always hold a special place in James' heart, but he had to accept that their time had passed. He couldn't turn back the hands of time, and he couldn't undo the damage he had caused. All he could do was learn from his mistakes and move on, with the memories of their love forever etched in his heart.

A broken heartache will always stay
Trying to mend the cause of it can help and
ease the pain of past mistakes
The healing process will always look for answers
words inside the letter give vital clues as to why.❤
