Things Said To Be

My head was filled when I was small

By other people’s thoughts, not mine at all

It’s hard to believe a thought from so long ago

Things said to be, but I wonder who really knows

I contemplated all the things presented to me

Turned them about, crawled inside just to see

What makes them tick, what purpose they served

And how much I could handle before being unnerved

The brain links all the connections of the physical sphere

While our metaphysical mind makes it analytically clear

Every minute stimuli influences the foundational base

Molds the malleable mind’s perspective in all that we face

If we are not diligent in our ability to perceive objectively

Our perceptions will be manipulated to make us agree

Be careful of the illusionists who wish to distort your senses

Fortify your mind with analytical creativity as your defenses

View everything through a lens of common sense and integrity

Challenge all perceptions conceived with unwavering regularity

Building a baseline of introspection from which to judge your view

So, you will know if what you think belongs to someone else or you
