There’s no revenge in imitation

entry picture

You have hurt me, and yet,

I search not for retribution.

Seeking a distinct vantage point

I do not find revenge in imitation.

Harsh words once cruelly spoken,

An opportunity for easy repetition.

Yet substance is my pride

I do not find revenge in imitation,

There is no detail I must explain

I’m in no need of vindication.

I’m unlike you; I’m therefore sure,

I do not find revenge in imitation.

I didn’t expect this disrespect,

Or my character assassination.

There’s a need for me to forgive,

I do not find revenge in imitation.

Crying for your wretchedness,

The agony of your affliction.

Ever sure of my moral stance

I do not find revenge in imitation.

A love once shared, now sacrificed

divorced without execration.

Showing that the best revenge

will not be found in imitation.
