29.04.23 -194:146) Last nights meal was a delight

Fish, chips and mushy peas, with scraps “Yes please”.

I tucked in with a smile, meal ended Texas style

Couldn't eat it all so it was put away, I finished it off today

My first full day at home after my roam

Things to catch up on, things to sort out

They’ll get done in time, and I can put it in rhyme

So it can be done for NapoWriMo and there’s only one day to go

30.04.23 – 195:147) NaPoWriMo the final day, nothing much more to say

Back at home after my annual poetry roam

Blog almost up to date NaPoWriMo almost over for another year

Now almost back in the old routine, as I remember what’s been

Went to church to sing and pray, thanks to say

Home for dinner and soon, I’m going to an open mic this afternoon

My intent to recite at a Pre May Day event

A Club in Bradford called 1 in 12, so in my archives I delve

Cos’ they got Workers, Anarchists, Unionists,

Decide what I’m going to say and print it off straight away

Get it just so, ready for time to go

196:148) It’s time and I’m away I fixed the sat nav switch,

It gets me there without a glitch

But it was no lark finding somewhere to park

Eventually parking space found, to the venue bound

Luke says “When do you want to be heard” I ask “Can I go on third?”

Poet first, singer second, then to the mic I’m beckoned

Strut my stuff, till I think that’s enough

Slot done I watch a while longer then the call of my tea is the stronger

Say goodbye and I’m walking to the door

Smiling guy says “Well done I enjoyed what you had to say today”

I thank him and say “if a performance makes one person smile

Then that performance is all worthwhile”

And walking to the car I thought “way to go

The perfect way to end NaPoWriMo”.
