Looking back...

If we look back in time and see
All those who brought us misery,
Should we hate or should we forgive?
With which of these should we now live?

Shall we find peace or be embittered?
Shall our minds be clear or with troubles littered?
Should we in joy or sadness wallow?
And which of these paths should we follow?

Shall we resolve to be dejected?
And accept when have been rejected?
Should we believe we are alone?
That we've walked this world all on our own?

So when looking back do not be cross,
And believe we've always been our own boss.
So stride on with hope and glory,
And give a happy end to our life story.

Stuart,
This poem is an invitation for us all to unburden ourselves and to move on. There is no need for us to carry on with unnecessary luggage. For me the poem speaks of the strength of the individual which must rise above all difficulties, in the firm knowledge that we are not alone nor ever have been.
Thank you for this
Keith
