The Perennial Jackboot

 

Under the foot of a tyrant

many have lived and perished.

Others followed out of fear

duped by their own ignorance.

 

Dictators rule with rods of iron

surrounded by their adoring sycophants.

 A nightmare is soon given birth

to repression, horror and murder.

 

Dictators are like birds of a feather

as they flock together to conspire.

Nothing is sacred in their temple

of profanity and the instruments of torture.

 

They seldom last for long

before the day of reckoning dawns.

They die by the sword they wielded

and breathe their last odious breath.

 

It is often the ordinary man who

initiates their rise to power.

Mindless fools who acclaim their heroes

but die in the ruins of their own making.

 

Today we must be alert as evil still roams

often dressed in a nondescript  disguise.

These merciless devils need to be exorcised

and eradicated to prevent history

being repeated yet again.
