Not least when various factors seem to create the word "malign"..

And night owls discover drawbacks (the downside if you will)

Of going to bed in the early hours but unsure when the trill

Of the door bell will be interrupting sleep's enfolding embrace

With its imperious demands to answer before there is no trace

Of the constant motion couriers who have their list to hand

And are not inclined to hang about - to delay what is planned

For the schedule of deliveries that are waiting for their call -

When feet tangled with pyjamas can see pride take a furious fall

Before reaching the impatient answerphone and saying a hopeful "hello"

Only to find the blighter's been and gone - wouldn't you just KNOW!
