All Day Long (2 parts)

Scattering Seeds

All day long spread your blessings like scattered seeds.

Bless every item you touch,

every person you encounter,

every experience that unfolds,

every minute that passes.

Like a dandelion blowing in the breeze,

send your blessings out.

Trust that all will be enlivened & uplifted

on the gentle wind of your well wishes.

Sometimes

A part of me is miserable & grumpy & frustrated all day long,

another part of me is happy & joyful & free all day long.

How can these two states live side by side?

I don't know but they do.

There is another part of me that glimmers far off in the distance,

like a mirage of an oasis in a dry desert--

this part beckons, welcomes, invites--

come, come to the land of equanimity,

above & beyond & apart

from all those ups & downs,

come to the land of flourishing bliss,

flush with newness,

with energy,

with wondrous goodness.

I go there sometimes,

I stay there sometimes,

all day long.

Looked up Larousse french dictionary on my buddy google & saw the lovely dandelion art work; how fun! You would make my French Canadian (Quebecois) dad happy, Uilleam, with that reference. My dad was fond of dictionaries & encyclopedias in those pre-google days; if a question came up during a conversation, off he would go to retrieve a reference book to find the answer.

The first part of your poem reminds me of the image on the old French "Larousse" dictionary - wasn't that of a dandelion spreading its seeds?
I think we need to be forgiven for our moments of grumpiness, -that person standing at a shop till might just be having a bad time, and could do with a sympathetic smile.😉

I enjoyed both of these poems, the first is an important aspect of life which is to uplift and strengthen others through our prayers and interest in them. The analogy of dandelion seeds floating away in differing directions is akin to intercessory prayer when we pray for others. The second poem depicts so well the vacillating nature of life as we endure mood swings which are at a variance with who we are. I do so love the word grumpy as I can, at times, be the embodiment of such feelings.
Thank you for this
Keith
