Triptych

entry picture

The holy trinity is a triptych:
composed of three parts
God the Father nods to the Jews
& the Old Testament blocks his view.
The jealous son-devouring monster, YHWH,
kept his family clean - if you get my drift?
The Son, springsnewly-created from the New Testament,
is full of hope, miracles & remorse.
he is born to be betrayed.
the cockerel crowed three times.
& the son of god was as lost
as I, as I sit and type on this cold evening.
Simetimes I pause for a sign
then I type the word 'triptych'
& realize that the 4th dimension
is always slipping just out of view
and so slips off like you & I do.

A happy new year to you. I don't know Keith, the old cop out of the agnotic, I know. But (a)theism is a leap in the dark. The older that I become, the less I know. However, as you say Keith, glimpses and gleams of another dimension occur. I was put in mind of William Wordsworth's Ode: Intimations of Immortality from Recollections of Early Childhood:
There was a time when meadow, grove, and stream,
The earth, and every common sight,
To me did seem
Apparelled in celestial light,
The glory and the freshness of a dream.
It is not now as it hath been of yore;—
Turn wheresoe'er I may,
By night or day.
The things which I have seen I now can see no more.

John,
This poem intrigues me as the Trinity is three as is our world three dimensional, as are so many things in life bound together in threes. Body, mind and spirit. A fourth dimension is there. I feel it somewhere but it remains aloof and I cannot grasp it. Is that dimension beyond our vision and comprehension? Could it be heaven or life eternal which our finite minds are unable to perceive?
Lines three and four of your poem brought a smile.
Thank you for this
Keith
