All It Takes

It takes a village to lose a child
and a whole world
to lose a community
water evaporating
each believing
they can find a space of their own.
It takes a city for a graffiti artist
to make his mark
from the outskirts to the heart
and a whole world
for a driven society to brand its stamp
on everything it finds.
It takes a country to define civilization
in its own terms
right or wrong
and a whole world
to count the cost over and over again.
Taking the view from the moon
the whole world is fair and jewel-like
and small as a new born babe
and that is the miracle and future
to never lose sight of.

A fine, multi-layered poem, Adam. A great read.
