Saturday

NPR’s A Way with Words

on the radio

is a comfort to my soul

Steaming coffee

cold foam

pumpkin spice warms my bones

Treasure hunt to

a parking spot

reveals the ocean lapping up

Down the white

wooden ramp

slots sneak a peak at nature’s stamp

My toes stretch and touch

white sand

breeze and sun blanket my skin

Salty foam chases

a playful bird

his tiny squeak hardly heard

Waves catch my ankles

colder than air

a game they play with those who dare

Atlantic Beach

is home to me

no matter where, it will always be

A way with words

a familiar sway

just another Saturday
