There are guns on the streets
shooting the innocent and young
There are knives on the streets
stabbing the innocent and young 

There are murderers on the streets
killing the innocent and young 
There are young ones on the streets
killing the innocent and young 

I’m not sure which upsets most
of all the news reports I hear 
But I know when I hear each one
it fills me with dread and fear  

It seems that the news recently 
is getting worse each passing day
What happened to our country
to make it so violent today
