One step at a time 

We climbed flights after flight 

Reaching the fleet aimed for 

Sometime alone, sometimes with a friend

Mostly it was just me and God 

Taking one step at a time 

 

Still climbing up and up 

There's no turning back 

What's left behind 

Was a story of times gone by 

What was will never be again 

Time and tide wait for none 

Saying goes this way 

 

Just me and God 

From cradle to grave 

And till the eternal gate 

A friend for life and death 

And an eternal partner forever 

 

God sent friends to help 

Some were spiritual guide 

Some came as earthly mates 

Few were misguided and astray 

But each had a contribution to make 

Helping me take the next step up 

As per God's lovely plan 

 

I'm thankful to God 

For always being here 

Certain people still remain 

Many have been removed 

Their work was done in my life 

Just waiting for the next comrades

Hoping to find someone true as God 

Never to leave me alone again 

O God give me an eternal soulmate 

Together we will enter the eternal gate 

Someone who is mine to stay 

Promises true and love also true 

Who shall be the one 

Helping me to remember You.
