Summer EVE

Leaden summer skies filled with swifts and swallows

Skipping over the hedgerows

Fresh cool air on my face like a linen sheet

Purple grass , of gossamer clouds at my feet

Sun horizon boiling  illuminates the oaks

casting orange clouds

As fierce as the forge at the hands of creation

A still, still air of silence cloaks

The moon , a slit of light

Suspended in the blue

Like a crack in a door,

Inviting us to the other side

Bright shafts , beaming the invitation, as before.

Knowing not where it leads

Generations wonder

What’s behind the glimmer

The Siren silver , pulling me in

Through the feather crescent .

Drenching shimmer forever present.

Ever above is, ever below,

The moons ghostly shadow has us in tow,

Draws us in to its shine

Like tides of endless time forth and back

Mystery of what’s behind the silver sabre crack.

This is a unique poem as the writer has used a descriptive style which takes the reader into an almost surrealistic world which one can identify but also be entranced by.
I thoroughly enjoyed this. Thank you

A wonderful poem with really unique descriptions, Pete! I loved the line "As fierce as the forge at the hands of creation"! 🌷
