Metaphors of The Unsated

entry picture

A pebble thrown into a millpond displays delightful concentric circles

I have thrown countless pebbles, to no avail

What’s unfair should make you stronger,

I’m the sum of my life's successes, not my failures,

A bicycle peddled, generates forward motion, faster and faster downhill,

I’ve pressed down firmly, I’m no more forward than I was before.

What’s unfair should make you stronger,

I’m the sum of my life's successes, not my failures,

A ladder climbed, high then higher till level accomplished

Each rung footed, but still not off the ground.

What’s unfair should make you stronger,

I’m the sum of my life's successes, not my failures,

Express train thunders through tunnels, towards the metropolis

Even though I’ve purchased an off-peak return, I’m still here on the platform

What’s unfair should make you stronger,

I’m the sum of my life's successes, not my failures,

Friends partying, music playing, drinking, slow dancing,

They danced throughout the night, I was the nominated driver

I tell myself what’s unfair makes you stronger,

I tell myself I’m the sum of my life's successes, not failures,

Ultimately I’m wrong

There’s no real success without procreated life

I will be forever wanting, forever weeping, forever childless.

no fathers day

A great write tinged with sadness, Russell.

Fascinating and very skilful, Russell, if somewhat downbeat. Great poem.
