History

Stately History marching,

but missing a heartbeat,

stealing last sighs

with its austere eyes,

brandishing swords

and quills, trying

to quench a need,

a human greed for

happenings, the kind

that might spill

some blood, and

then some ink.

When ends are nigh,

History just smiles,

ready to still Time,

on scrolls to shine;

in its back pocket

you'll find

immortelles, and

a pinch of hindsight.

Very profound, Holden. Taking a wider perspective makes us see events differently.
"greed for happenings... spill some blood and then some ink."
As usual, you made me think! 😎
