Pride for the nation is good

and it is well understood

arrogance and false pride invite disaster

country and its people always suffer

Emperor Ashok wanted to win overall

he invaded Magadh to give surrender call overall

Magadh nation did not surrender and got lost

The emperor Ashoka witnessed and uttered "at what cost"

What kind of king am I?

no surviving population

only dead scattered bodies and vultures in the sky

where are the people to praise by?

No, I don't want such victory

where people have lost everybody

Was it for a piece of land?

with such a horrendous end?

He took a vow not to wage war again

not to cause misery and pain

he took a vow and left the empire

turn sage and took shelter under non-violence

He sent his daughter to far off places

with the olive branch to spread the fragrance

preach non-violence and peace

let the human race live at an ease

Where are we today?

Have we achieved something and stayed with it?

we have no answer today, but resolve to stay

with greed, jealousy, and hatred all the way

we have more dictators, peace spoilers

war traders and peace breakers

the general and innocent population suffers

finding no solution, but reeling under fears
