Today marks The Queens Platinum Jubilee
a day of royal celebration 
Heartfelt and goodwill messages are sent 
from every corner of the nation 

During her seventy years of service 
her sense of duty has always prevailed 
Through the good, bad and most difficult times
her dignity and grace has never failed 

It must be a time of mixed emotions  
remembering those lost along the way 
Yet we must mark this amazing milestone 
and commemorate this most special day 

Across the whole of the United Kingdom 
and all around the Commonwealth  
Folk will raise a glass and toast her name 
to wish our Queen the very best of health

In summer we will honour this occasion 
grand nationwide celebrations are planned
Big Jubilee Lunch street parties with bunting
Union Jacks will fly high across the land 

There will be a London Platinum Pageant
combining pomp and ceremony
Street art, theatre, music and costumes 
cutting-edge visual technology

“A River of Hope” will flow down The Mall
two hundred silk flags in colourful streams 
Children will share their hand drawn images
of future aspirations, hopes and dreams 

People will come together and unite
dressed head to toe in red, white and blue
A long weekend of special events 
a time for us all to look forward to

Today we salute Her Majesty The Queen
forever wonderful and glorious
We hope for many more years to come
she will continue to reign over us
