Donations are essential to keep Write Out Loud going

thE 200,000

Mankind knows nothing

200,000 years of huffing and puffing

Clawing a way up evolutionary ladders

We then slip down the slippery adders

Each invention speeds the time

To our demise I think you’ll find

We think we’re conquering the void

But all we do is produce more noise

The clamours of mankind grow loud

As we spread across the earth in clouds

Like locusts consume all

In their path

So man lays waste to all he has

But like the plagues swept before

Eventually will be no more

As we all will eventually go

the earth once more will start to grow

Recovering from human shock

The globe continues like a clock

Resting in recovery room

Just the earth and silver moon

Between them as they dance and play

Around each other’s orbits, say

Let’s hope the next lot is more sensible

As man was just incomprehensible

Thanks Keith &Julie for liking and all the others as well
I must admit I had a chuckle when I wrote the last 2 lines,
Rhyming sensible and incomprehensible 🤣

Feels like we are playing a game with many more snakes than ladders at the moment. Good one, 🙏

A lot of truth is spoken in this poem. Even more to ponder on. A poem which came from an interesting source of inspiration as does all poetry which involves the created order.
Thank you for this
Keith
