Words

Your words were like a swift blade
As though ready to kill
My heart it bled
My eyes it teared
The voice inside roared
What I once feared had only come true
You were then like a storm set to destroy To shatter what I once dreamed Wonder if words could kill?
Like a foot that set foot on a broken glass
Such it hurt
Like a thorn that pricked a finger
Such it bled
Like Brutus that stabbed Julius
Such it pained
If words could kill
I would have not lived
If words could kill
We would have fought a duel
With swords clashing on either side
If words could kill
You would have shot a bullet at me
If words could kill
I'd like to imagine a possibility of a war
With us at nations, when we're just people
If words you spoke were of no effect
Words wouldn't feel toxic to me
Words wouldn't sting me like a bee does Words wouldn't make me feel like a weight has been pressing on my heart
Words wouldn't make my eyes cry an ocean of tears
Words wouldn't be me fighting demons inside my head Words wouldn't feel wanting to scream and shout in agony
Words wouldn't make my mind full of questions
Waiting for answers from you
Except you wouldn't answer
Except you wouldn't see those tears
Except you wouldn't see me fight a battle daily
Except you wouldn't know
That sometimes words do kill
That your words did kill
Oh your words did kill
Piece by piece
Word by word
Words shot at me like an arrow
Words stabbed at me like a knife
