I’m thinking of going electric
when I purchase my next new car
But I’m more than slightly concerned
that it may not get me very far

Looking at all the pros and cons
the initial cost to make the change
The total number of charging points
and distance of battery range

I know they have their plus points
not sure they are enough to convince me
Although one day I hope to be more
environmentally friendly

I think I need more assurance
a little less air of mystery
To risk the long drive home alone
on nothing more than a battery

What if I leave the radio on
or need to charge up my phone
Could I end up in a remote car park
at midnight all alone

I have weighed up all the pros and cons
and I’ve made my decision
I’m just not ready to take the risk
and make the transition

I would love to do my bit
and drive a car that’s eco friendly
Unfortunately at this moment in time
I just don’t think it’s for me

Any change that is rushed is to be treated with circumspection.
The idea might be worthy but practicality has not yet caught up.
I have this vision of a hapless electric car driver being stuck in a
a place with a charging point that is reliant on a wind power source that is inoperative due to a high pressure area bringing
ongoing beautiful but completely calm meteorological conditions!

Thanks Stephen, I am following Tomfoolery on his poem a day challenge. I am taking some inspiration from his posts. He was stuck in a remote car park on 1% charge. His car said it would take 6.5 hours for a full charge.

I will take the plunge, just not sure when.

I see your point, Julie. We have an electric car with a range of about 300 miles and we have installed a charging point in our own garage. To be honest, we never charge it anywhere else, although we do not do long trips at the moment.
It's true that finding charging points en route is rather a hit or miss affair at the moment.
