So she let the rain set in

entry picture

So she let the rain set in

Alas

When we had nearly given in

Mother nature

Decided she could absolve us from our sins…

So she let the rain set in

Her eyes did not water lightly

Instead— she wept a river

She gave us more than we deserved

More than what we thought—she could deliver

Everlasting daisies and orchids emerged

In abundance— on the once bone-dry mountain

She wept and wept

Such a deeply healing fountain

Animals could graze at ease

Empty lakes were filled

Forests being rehydrated

Were able to naturally rebuild

Frogs became audible

In places— we daren’t fathom—they could live in anymore

Vast and never-ending greenness

That I’d not seen for such a long time

Or even ever before

The rain

It came

It flowed

And it healed

It reminded us that

Forgiveness and revival

Is not just possible

It’s real

Great poem! I'm sure the Solanum simile(?) didn't mind the rain along with the frogs
