Autumn Mood

Bedgraggled bare boned trees
backdropped by the sky of palest blue
Decaying foliage lies thick and deep
heavy with morning dew

Limp leaves flutter down one by one
perished and scattered around
Glory days well behind them now
they lie rotting on the ground

Wild birds feed on bugs and worms
the only sign of life I see
The cold November air is still
yet seems to bore right through me

Our garden looks forlorn
neglected, cold, damp and dreary
Autumn reflects my mood today
downcast, grey, dull and weary
