Coming soon to your mail box
more junk mail
more than you will ever need
or read
flyers upon flyers and ads upon ads
for this that and the other
that's all the mailman delivers anymore
but we have no control
we are at their mercy
in this age of electronic communication
we still get Paper Mail
whether we want it or not
since the postman drives his little white truck
6 days a week on his regular circuitous route
on his very secure government job
with benefits and a nice pension
delivering useless mail
that fills up the recycle bin
full of worthless junk
there's no reason for it
except that it provides politicians
guaranteed voters and guaranteed votes
because the job is union
we the taxpayers bear the tab
postage keeps going up but
the post office is going broke
the politicians don't care
they've got a great deal
a bird nest on the ground
along with their golden goose.

Only thing I get through the post now is utility bills, although some I pay on internet. The old posties were great, and you got all the gossip from the village, if you offered them a cuppa and a sitdown.
