He's not as dead

as he predicted

he claimed he was at death's door

yet here he is still breathing

still writing poems

I think he is disappointed

in his current status

he was ready for the grave

he imagined his service

the grieving wife and children

praising him next to his coffin

but he keeps waking up

to more tomorrows

oh well he says

I'll die in good time

It's a work in progress

I do not want to rush into it

I want to think about it

a little longer

to make sure I get it right.
