Dead Battery

I am all-electric,

wired and ready

charging across America

except I have to stop

every 200 miles to recharge

when my battery goes down

or the wind doesn't blow

then the stations only sell

gas and super sized sodas

no place to plug in

need a longer extension cord

so I limp in on a dead battery

order a pizza to go

might as well eat

it's a long way home

on foot.

Great poem. As the owner of an electric car (range marginally more), this is close to my worst nightmare. There's the song 'I would walk five hundred miles' - at least it's not as far as that.
