Fishing for an audience: live poetry events at Brixham museum

The fishing town of Brixham in south Devon will be staging its own three-day live literary event next month. Brixham Books and Bards at Brixham Heritage Museum from 1-3 June will include Paignton performance poet Robert Garnham will be reading from Squidbox, his pamphlet of poems about the local fishing industry.

Samantha Little and John Scotney will appear on 1 June, launching ‘Brixham in 100 Poems’ and ‘Catching the Afterglow – A Celebration of South Devon Women Poets, Past and Present’, both edited by Samantha, the museum’s writer in residence, while former BBC producer John has written ‘The King on the Quay’, a narrative of the landing of Prince William of Orange in 1688.
